This patient presented to Max Drugs Pharmacy for a finger injury that caused extreme pain and suffering. He was recommended by his physician to have his finger amputated as his finger wound was too deep and uncovered his distal finger bone, but he decided to try another alternative to save his finger. Max Drugs Pharmacy offered him the opportunity to restore his finger. Over a period of 6 months, his finger was entirely recovered.

We can provide our clients with medications in alternate dosage forms which are not commercially available.

We love our pets. Many of us treat them as if they are our own children. From dogs and cats to horses and elephants, no matter what type of animal it is, we at Max Drugs will treat your pet’s problem. As any pet owner knows, administering medications to pets can be quite a challenge. We work side by side with Veterinarians and Pet owners to develop the best possible solution for the pet’s need. There are a variety of ways we can treat your pet’s health concerns.

Veterinary Compounding has become an increasing need.

1. Many drugs are not approved for certain species; therefore, drugs manufactured for humans must be used. The use of human drugs in animals must be altered (compounded) to fit the size of the animal.

2. Items that are currently discontinued can be ordered and compounded to the veterinarian’s need.

3. The variation in size, breeds, and types of animals is a situation that faces veterinarians. Do small dogs like Chihuahuas and large dogs like Golden Retrievers need the same doses? Can a parrot take the same medications as a Hamster? Will a specific drug have the same effect on a Lhasa Apso as it might on a Collie?

4. Veterinarians face ethical dilemmas, treat only what is available or do what is best for the animal.

5. We compound for many types of animals: Domestic small and large pets, exotics, wildlife, zoo animals, horses, etc.

We can compound formulations to meet vet specifications, compound discontinued drugs, or change dosages, strengths and flavors. We also offer a wide variety of flavors that will appeal to all pets, from banana to chicken.

Veterinary Preparations we currently compound:

Alternate Dosage Forms
Sterile Injections
Creams, ointments and lotions
Ophthalmic preparations
Discontinued medications
Flavored medications
Sugar-Free medications
Topical powders
Transdermal deliveries
Chewable treats
Chewable flavored troches
Otic Solutions and non-aqueous suspensions
Oral suspensions and paste
Otic insufflations
Gels—topical/oral
Rectal enemas
Iontophoretic formulations
Rectal suppositories
Individualized doses
Combination meds
Inhalation therapy

If you have any questions, please contact us at Max Drugs and we will be happy to answer any them for you.

Two Different Flus Are Here This Season

The 2009 flu season is different from most flu seasons of the past in that there are now two distinct types of influenza in circulation: Seasonal flu and H1N1 influenza virus (also known as swine flu.) To get the most protection against the flu this fall and winter, people will need to get two different vaccines when they are available. It’s important to know, however, that you may be at higher risk for complications from one form of the flu but not for the other. Although H1N1 is particularly dangerous to school-age children, seasonal flu is more hazardous to older people.

Zachary Eisenman who is an immunization-certified pharmacist will administer H1N1 and seasonal flu shots during regular business hours and will continue to do so throughout the flu season.

What to Expect in Your First MTM Meeting

Your MTM consultation will be held in a private room in the pharmacy where you will meet one-on-one with your MTM pharmacist. An initial visit may last from 30 to 45 minutes. The pharmacist will ask you questions about your medical conditions, your medical history, and current and past medication use.

Over a period of x months, his finger was entirely recovered.
